In preparing students for 21st century, the importance of teaching higher order thinking skills is questionable. Yet, many educators and employers express their concern that young Malaysians especially fresh graduates are unable to think critically creatively. Therefore, this paper presents a review extant literature on studies related HOTS through in ESL Classrooms. Many tools have been used language teach more efficiently over course time. Nevertheless, it widely accepted has proven be one best most beneficial resources. Literature currently being taught by adhering syllabus merely examination purposes, instead cultivate understanding appreciation. Change needs taken place thereby immediately.
